CONTESTS & TWITTER PITCH EVENTS
#DVPit #DVpit is a Twitter event created to showcase pitches from unagented, marginalized voices that have been historically underrepresented in publishing. + * #LatinxPitch A pitching event for all Latino/Latine/Latinx creators of young people’s literature + #KidLitGN Hosting Pitch Events For Creators of MG and Younger Graphic Novels + #PBPitch #PBPitch is exclusively for picture books, but also writers are only allowed to pitch manuscripts once in the morning and once in the evening. This way, agents can visit #pbpitch and easily scroll through the feed without seeing repeats or other genres. #PitMad #PitMad is the original twitter pitch event, where writers tweet a 280-character pitch for their completed, polished, unpublished manuscripts. No previously published works. Agents and editors make requests by liking/favoriting the tweeted pitch. As of 2022 this contest has closed. + Tu Books - New Vision Award Encourages writers of color and Native Nations to submit their work to a publisher that takes pride in nurturing new talent. |

+ Charlotte Huck Award (NCTE) For Outstanding Fiction for Children was established in 2014 to promote and recognize excellence in the writing of fiction for children. This award recognizes fiction that has the potential to transform children’s lives by inviting compassion, imagination, and wonder. CLASP Américas Award (Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs) In recognition of U.S. published works of fiction, poetry, folklore, or selected non-fiction (from picture books to works for young adults) that authentically and engagingly portray Latin America, the Caribbean, or Latinx in the United States. International Latino Book Award Recognizing greatness in literature. Honoring authors, translators, and illustrators for their books written either in English, Spanish y Portuguese. + Jane Addams Peace Award Recognizes children’s books of literary and aesthetic excellence that effectively engage children in thinking about peace, social justice, global community, and equity for all people. Lambda Literary Awards Lambda Literary Award submissions are judged principally on literary merit and content relevant to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer lives. Little Brown Emerging Artist Award (LBYR) This initiative seeks promising new talent and encourages the development of high-quality picture books that resonate with readers of diverse backgrounds and experience, while also providing valuable mentorship by an acclaimed illustrator and children’s book professionals. * + Pura Belpre Award (American Library Association) Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth. + Tu Books - New Vision Award Encourages writers of color and Native Nations to submit their work to a publisher that takes pride in nurturing new talent. + Work-In-Progress Award (SCBWI) The SCBWI Work-In-Progress (WIP) Awards assist children’s book writers, illustrators, and translators in the publication of a specific project currently not under contract. Walter Awards (WNDB) Recognize diverse authors (or co-authors) whose works feature diverse main characters and address diversity in a meaningful way. |
