ABOUT WELCOME HOME, ESMERELDA...
Julie Bliven at Charlesbridge has bought world rights to Daniela Ramirez's debut picture book, WELCOME HOME, ESMERELDA, about a Mexican American girl navigating a move to the U.S. after only living overseas because of her father's job in the military. Maribel Lechuga will illustrate; publication is slated for summer 2025. Charlotte Wenger at Prospect Agency represented the author, and Kate Powell at Astound US represented the illustrator.
WELCOME HOME, ESMERELDA will be released in English and Spanish.

Daniela Ramirez writes picture books and middle grade novels with a passion for storytelling. Daniela is Mexican American and excited to share her culture. She loves writing latinx characters and wishes to inspire her own children. When she’s not writing you can find her chasing her little ones, dancing in the kitchen and hiking in the mountains. Daniela is married to her college sweetheart and is a military spouse. She calls New Mexico home.
