ABOUT BELEN...
Belen Medina is recovering lawyer turned children’s book writer and mom to two energetic boys, to whom she gets to read to every night . . . and torture with her manuscripts.
She is a California native, though spent my formative summers in Mexico, where her parents are originally from. She has navigated both cultures throughout her life, which has enriched her writing. She now lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family sitting next to a light lamp in the winter, missing the California sun but also enjoying the natural beauty and actual seasons.
She is currently working on several picture books both fiction and non-fiction as well as a few middle grade novels. Her stories mine her past, explore issues of identity, reflect her love of Mexican culture and appreciation for the natural world. She also enjoys painting portraits of people who inspire me, especially women of color and other marginalized groups. You can visit her work at https://www.etsy.com/shop/BelenMedinaArt
